Vietnam encourages Indian businesses to invest in health care, infrastructure building, energy and high quality human resource training, said State President Truong Tan Sang.

After touring Bangalore which is considered Silicon valley in India, the visiting State President, his wife and entourage arrived in Delhi on October 11.

On the same day, President Sang met with leaders of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and leaders of 13 strong groups and companies, such as Fotis Health Care, SKIL Infrastructure, Bohra Industries and Aptech ltd,, which are operating in Vietnam or planning to invest in the country in the fields of health care, infrastructure building, energy, fertilizer production and high-quality human resource training.

Business representatives briefed Mr Sang on their operational scale and financial capacity, proposed area in which they wish to cooperate with Vietnam, and asked the president to elaborate on Vietnam’s investment policies on health care and environmental protection.

Some proposed that Vietnam open a direct air route between the two countries to promote trade exchanges and extend visas from three months to one year for Indian businesses who are working in the country.

President Sang said annual bilateral trade turnover between the two countries estimated at US$3 billion is too modest to compare with their potential and wish to see economic and trade relations on par with the strategic partnership.

A welcome ceremony for President Sang, his wife and entourage was held at Taj Palace hotel with the participation of Vietnamese embassy officials and staff, overseas Vietnamese representatives and students studying in the capital city.
