The Vietnam Foreign Ministry and the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs have presented the Certificate of Merit to 19 Vietnamese nationals residing in Japan for their contributions to the development of community in Japan and to national defence and construction in the homeland.

Most awards recipients are doctors and professors at Japanese universities.

Speaking at the awards ceremony in Tokyo on June 30, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Chu Tuan Cap expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Japan will continue to make more contributions to the homeland and help promote cooperation and friendship between the two nations.

For his part, Dr Huynh Tri Chanh, President of the Vietnamese Association in Japan, said that overseas Vietnamese in Japan will work harder to enhance bilateral relations.
