Vietnam is trying its best to become an industrialised country by the year 2020, said Minister of Industry Hoang Trung Hai at the World Economic Forum on East Asia held in Japan recently.

The Minister said that the country is intensifying its efforts to integrate into the region and the world, and boost exports to bring the country out of the under-developed status soon.

Minister Hai underlined that Asia - the most dynamic economic region in the world – should make proper adjustments to respond to the rapid changes of regional and the world’s economic environment so as to maintain its current high and stable growth rate.

During his stay in Japan, Minister Hai held a meeting with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Toshihiro Nikai. The two ministers discussed measures to boost bilateral co-operation and reached consensus on a Vietnam-Japan Forum on energy saving technologies, which slated for Vietnam later this year.

Minister Hai also participated in a press conference for member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and held working sessions with Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exports of the Canadian province of Quebec, Raymond Bachand, and representatives from corporate giants such as Toyota and Toshiba.
