HCM City plans multi-story parking lot near airport
The Southern Airports Transport Corporation has proposed a multi-story parking structure where passengers can leave their vehicles and take shuttle buses to Tan Son Nhat Airport.
The company is asking the city's transport department to lease land for the project, which it says is necessary considering that the airport is running out of parking space for cars and motorbikes.
Under the plan, the structure will be built on Pham Van Dong Street, in the middle of Gia Dinh Park.
A bus ride to the airport may take between 10 and 15 minutes.
Dang Tuan Tu, director of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, said the airport has expanded the parking lot and it now can host more than 4,000 cars and motorbikes, mostly bikes, at a time, but it is yet to meet the demand.
Tu said many people have been told to park elsewhere. He said the parking lots will stop receiving overnight motorbike.
