Hoang Nam advances to Thailand Junior G1 finals

(VOV) -Vietnamese Ly Hoang Nam has advanced to the final round of the Chang Thailand Junior G1 boys singles finals ongoing in Thailand with a victory over Australia’s Marc Polmans.

Hoang Nam handily won the match on March 6 in two straight sets 6-3 and 6-3. Earlier in the day he defeated the tournament's No2 seed Djurabeack Karimov of Uzbekistan (world No24).

This was the first time the Vietnamese player (world No70) has qualified for a world junior tennis championships held by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

In the finals, Hoang Nam will meet the winner of a semi-final match between Akira Santillan of Japan (world No12) and Chan Yeong Oh of the Republic of Korea (world No25).

Earlier, in the boy’s double event, Hoang Nam and his teammate Daniel Nolan of Australia failed to qualify for the final round as the duo lost 2-0 to Japanese opponents Yuya Ito and Akira Santillan.
