Vietnam has been placed first in the world in terms of employment growth in the private sector.

According to a recent survey by accounting consultancy grant Thornton International, the country saw a 14 percent increase in 2007.

The group’s international business report said that global employment in the private sector was up 4 percent this year, a slight improvement over 2007’s rate of three percent.

With an economy growing at more than 7 percent annually and 1.3 million new workers joining the labour market each year, many of these staff are being employed by private businesses.

India and China follow Vietnam in the rankings with an increase of 12 percent each./.
