Vietnamese traditional dress (ao dai) will be introduced in a large-scale exhibition at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles in the US from April 18 to July 9.

Three top Vietnamese designers namely Minh Hanh, Si Hoang and Minh Khoa, together with artisan Trinh Bach will launch 80 sets of ao dai at the exhibition.

Artisan Trinh Bach will introduce three sets of ancient ao dai while designer Minh Hanh will launch 30 sets of ao dai with brocade decorations of ethnic minorities groups and Vietnamese traditional flowers such as chrysanthemum and lotus. Designer Minh Hanh collected ancient paintings to create unique decorations on ao dai for the exhibition.

Designer Si Hoang will also send a collection of ao dai for children with decorations featuring painting designs.

Designer Minh Khoa will bring to the exhibition a set of modern ao dai featuring Japanese kimono or lace material.

The exhibition is being co-organised by the US-based Viet Art Association and the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles of the US.
