The troupe's performances are expected to raise mutual understanding and foster friendship between the two countries and the two peoples. Hei Longjiang is composed of folk music and dancing groups and a symphony orchestra.

The Chinese troupe has toured many countries and territories around the world such as Canada, Australia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Japan, Russia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, India and Taiwan.
