A grand memorial service was dedicated to Vietnam’s National Hero Nguyen Hue in the central province of Binh Dinh on August 1, as part of the ongoing Tay Son - Binh Dinh Festival.

Nguyen Hue later known as King Quang Trung, together with his two brothers, Nguyen Nhac and Nguyen Lu, and the Tay Son army had driven away the northern Qing invaders in a seven-day battle during the lunar New Year in 1789 which is still celebrated in the country today.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Huynh Ngoc Son were present at the service, which drew thousands of local and foreign spectators.

It also included the offerings of flowers and incense to King Quang Trung at his monument and a temple dedicated to the three Nguyen brothers in addition to the performance of Tay Son drums and Tay Son martial arts.
