Ho Chi Minh City has welcomed around 2.2 million foreign tourists over the past nine months, up 14 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.


Foreign tourists are mainly from the US, Japan, France, Australia, Canada, the Republic of Korea, China and some ASEAN countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.


The tourism sector has earned a total revenue of VND21,600 billion, an increase of 40 percent over the same period last year. It aims to receive 3 million foreign visitors and earn VND29,000 billion this year.
