Hoan Vu Joint Operating Company ( HVJOC) has said that its commercial production already began at the Ca Ngu Vang (Golden Tuna) oilfield off Vietnam’s southern coast.

The production, which started on July 26, was seen as an important event, marking the successful cooperation of three oil companies, namely the PetroVietnam Exploration Production Co., the UK-based Soco Vietnam Ltd., and Thailand’s PTTEP Hoanvu Co. Ltd..

This is the first project in Vietnam to use available equipment at the operational Bach Ho (White Tiger) oilfield to bring oil and gas from the Ca Ngu Vang oilfield with minimized production cost.

The Ca Ngu Vang oilfield was found in October 2002 at Block 9-2 in the Cuu Long basin, around 140 km off the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

It is expected to provide 10,000-20,000 barrels of crude oil and 25-50 million cu.m of gas daily.
