Quang Liem steps up in world’s chess rankings
(VOV) - The World Chess Federation (FIDE) recently announced Vietnamese No. 1 chess player Le Quang Liem has advanced one notch to 39th in the world’s rankings with an Elo of 2705.
He is the only Vietnamese athlete to rank amidst the world’s 100 best chess players and one of 47 international grandmasters with an Elo over 2700.
Norway’s Magnus Carlsen topped the list with an Elo of 2861.
Vietnamese 25-year-old Pham Le Thao Nguyen’s Elo of 2426 placed her 51st in the list of the world’s top 100 female chess players.
