Romanian county boosts ties with Vietnamese localities

(VOV) -Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee  Chairman Le Hoang Quan on October 30 hosted a reception for President of the Tulcea County Council of Romania Teodorescu Horia in the city during which he underlined the need for both sides to further promote bilateral ties.

The visit by the Romania delegation will reinforce relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Tulcea county as well as Vietnam and Romania since its establishment 65 years ago, he told his guest.

Last year's two-way trade between HCM City and Romania hit US$39 million. In January-October, HCM City exported US$13.5 million worth of goods to Romania, principally coffee, pepper and vegetables while importing pharmaceutical materials, animal feed and fertilizers worth more than US$7.4 million.

The municipal leader asked Romania to appoint an honorary consular and open a commercial office in the city to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Horia in turn said his visit aims to expand links with Vietnamese localities trade, investment and tourism, adding that Tulcea is contemplating the opening of an eco-tourism centre in the southern province of Ben Tre.
