Can Tho takes proactive approach to AEC
(VOV) - Over the past year international trade agreements have been a hot issue in Vietnamese news and politics, particularly the benefits that might flow from the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
“To help businesses and citizens better understand the AEC and its impact on their daily lives the Can Tho People’s Committee has sponsored eight seminars and workshops this year,” said Vice Chairman Truong Hoai Nam.
Nam said Vietnam is at the doorstep of implementing the AEC and the potential benefits will only be realized if companies and citizens take advantage of the market opportunities it offers.

On November 30, Nguyen Trong Cuong from the Can Tho Social-Economic Institute was a guest speaker at a seminar held in the city, who addressed issues related to the AEC and other free trade agreements.
At the seminar, Cuong said it was the initial first step to create the motivation for Can Tho City businesses and residents to prepare for regional integration in an effective, proactive way.
