The 2007 Asian Women’s Volleyball Club Tournament (VTC-SALONPAS Cup) officially kicked off in the northern province of Vinh Phuc on June 16, drawing the participation of women’s volleyball teams from eight countries.

The participating teams included Vietnam (VEI), Garuda – Indonesia (INA), Skif – Uzbekistan (UZB), Dalian Huanyu – China (CHN), Rahat – Kazakhstan (KAZ), Hisamitsu Seiy Aku Springs – Japan (JPN), Sangsom – Thailand (THA) and Sobaeksu – the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (PRK).

This is a good chance for Vietnamese and foreign athletes to show their talent and gain more experience.

On the first day of competition, the Vietnamese team defeated Indonesian rival 3-0 (25-21; 25-10 and 25-10). Three other matches took place between UZB and CHN; KAZ and JPN; and PRK and THA. CHN and KAZ defeated UZB and JPN, respectively, with the same score of 3-0, while PRK lost 3-1 to THA.
