François Hollande’s itinerary includes tour of Ancient House

VOV.VN - The itinerary for French President François Hollande’s three day visit to Hanoi on September 5-7 includes a tour of the Old Quarter and the Ancient House located at 87 Ma May Street.

The Ancient House, built in the 1890s, is one of the oldest landmarks in Hanoi.

The house is built in traditional Vietnamese architectural style of the period with large windows on the ground floor. Shown is a side staircase with a slope of 70° to 75° made of wood.

The Ancient House has a refreshed look thanks to a 1999 makeover, part of a restoration project funded in part by the city of Toulouse (France).

View of the ancestral altar located on the 2nd floor.

Pottery dating from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Antique wooden cabinet made of ceramic and metal containing many artefacts.

Four-paintings hung solemnly on the wall.

Old fashioned desk phone.

The master bedroom, furnished with great care, very neat and tidy with mahogany furniture and cabinetry.

Bedroom with workbench. The large door vestibules help bring in natural light and fresh air.

The national heritage has conventional rafter system type construction, carved wooden decorations, engineering bearing brick walls, with tile floor system seams on wooden beams.

Well preserved kitchen cupboard with original bowls.
