A number of witnesses at the scene made attempts to save him, but failed due to the strength of the currents.
Local police rushed to the scene in order to recover Dan’s body. It took them several hours to transport the body to the local Pramata Nusa Peninda hospital, before moving onto Sanglah hospital in Bali.
Kelingking is widely considered as the best beach in Indonesia and has been voted by TripAdvisor as the second-best beach in all of Asia.
The beach is famous for being home to majestic cliffs such as the ‘giant dinosaur’. Despite its fame, a number of accidents involving tourists happened at the beach.
