Nine imported cases from India confirmed, total rises to 1,122

The new registered patients are Indian experts who entered Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on flight 6E9471 on October 6, and were placed into isolation in Dong Thap province immediately upon entry. On October 7, they were sampled for the first time, with their test results being negative for SARS-CoV-2.

 At present, the nine patients are being isolated for treatment at Sa Dec General Hospital after their second test results came back positive for the virus on October 12.

Earlier, 7 cases on this flight were confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2, including 5 in Dong Thap, 1 in Dong Nai, and 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The country has so far recorded 691 community associated infections, including 551 cases confirmed since July 25 which saw the virus resurge in Vietnam’s Da Nang city.

The same day, an additional three coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,029 nationwide.

Among the positive patients receiving treatment, 9 have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at least once, and 17 tested negative several times, while death toll remains at 35.

There are more than 12,480 people having close contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases or coming from pandemic-hit areas under quarantine for health monitoring across the nation.

The nation has gone more than 40 days in a row with no new cases of local transmission.
