PM Phuc joins thousands in attendance at Dong Da festival

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was among the crowd which observed the reenactment of the battle of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da at a ceremony in Hanoi on February 9, which saw Dong Da Mound upgraded to the status of national relic.

Thousands of people from across Hanoi flocked to the Dong Da festival on February 9 to commemorate the 230th anniversary of the battle of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da which saw a victory over the Chinese Qing invaders.
In attendance at the ceremony were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, and Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai.
The delegates offered incense in front of the statue of King Quang Trung Nguyen Hue.
Nguyen Duc Chung, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee said the Dong Da Mound relic serves as a historical tribute to the patriotism of the Vietnamese people and their desire for independence and freedom. It is also an affirmation of solidarity, courage, and willpower.
During the festival, PM Phuc presented a certificate honouring the Dong Da Mound as a national relic site.
A performance was held by drummers during the opening of the ceremony.
The festival is held annually on the fifth day of the first lunar month to commemorate the victory of King Quang Trung (Nguyen Hue) over the Chinese Qing invaders.
A wide range of artistic performances are held during the festival as a tribute to commemorate King Quang Trung.

The Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da festival is a show of national unity and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.
 
The fifth day of the first lunar month has become a memorable day for local people in Quang Trung ward, Dong Da district, Hanoi as well as people across the country.
Thousands of people gather together to take in the spectacle of the Dong Da festival.
