During the stay, Quyen had working sessions with representatives from the Norwegian Parliament, the Supreme Court of Norway, the Committee on Scrutiny and Constitutional Affairs of the Norwegian Parliament, the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Norwegian Association of Lawyers in Oslo.

While briefing the hosts on Vietnam’s efforts in building its legal system, in protecting human rights and in judicial activities, Quyen said he hopes for enhanced cooperation between the two legislative bodies and multifaceted links between the two nations.

He also thanked the Norwegian side for its support for and cooperation with Vietnam in recent years.

First Vice - President of the Norwegian Parliament Marit Nybakk hailed Vietnam’s efforts in building laws and judicial reform, stressing the role of legislatures and the importance of legislative supervision activities in protecting basic human rights.

There is great potential for Norway and Vietnam to bolster cooperation, she said.
The visit offered a chance for Vietnamese law makers to learn from the Norwegian Parliament ’s experience in its supervision activities, criminal and civil judgment, lawyer management, minor-related lawsuits and mechanisms to protect human rights.

As part of the visit, the delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Norway, during which Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai briefed them on the development of Vietnam-Norway relations, which improved up after Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg’s official visit to Vietnam in April last year.
