Scenic winding railway across Hai Van Pass

VOV.VN - The stretch of railway winding through Hai Van pass is considered the most difficult section on the north-south rail route and impresses visitors with its stunning scenic views. 

Hai Van Pass is a part of the Truong Son mountain range in the central region of Vietnam. It is located between Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city. Pictured, the train climbs toward the tunnel passing through the mountain in Hai Van Nam, Da Nang.
Hai Van Pass has a total length of 21km with its highest peak reaching 496 metres above sea level. Transport by road and rail are difficult due to the mountainous terrain.
The winding Hai Van railway stops at different stations along its path such as Kim Lien, Hai Van Nam, Kim Lien, Lang Co, and Hai Van Bac.
The railway passes over 18 bridges and through six tunnels. Most trains crossing the Hai Van Pass travel at a slow speed.
The train ride provides great views of the sea below.
The railway is bordered by rising mountains and steep drops on either side
