Boom in numbers visiting local attractions over Tet holidays

VOV.VN - The number of visitors to tourist attractions around Vietnam saw a sharp increase during the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Khanh Hoa province received an estimated number of more than 192,000 visitors during Tet holiday 2018, up nearly 10% against Tet 2017 and as a result it recorded a total turnover of around VND420 billion. Khanh Hoa boasts many tourist destinations and entertainment sites, stretching from Van Ninh District to Cam Ranh City.

Each island welcomes around 500-5,000 daily visitors, while about 7,000 people visit Nha Trang Bay every day.

Nguyen Ngoc Khoa, head of the management section of Cau Da Wharf in Nha Trang City, says the number of tourists arriving to Nha Trang, mainly Chinese visitors, increased by more than 20% on last year.

During the first three days of Tet, the historical relic sites and ancient pagodas of Hue were crowded with visitors praying for good luck for the New Year while enjoying Tet atmosphere.

Many special art performances, calligraphy presentations, royal and folk games, lion and dragon dances, and guard changing took place at Hue Royal Palace, attracting more than 55,000 visitors, including 20,000 foreigners on these days.

More than 2,000 people visited the pagodas, temples, and tourism sites on Ly Son Island in central Quang Ngai province during the first days of the Lunar New Year The strategic location of these architectural treasures in the middle of the sea preserves the beauty of the spiritual culture of Ly Son islanders and provides proof for assertions of the sacred national sovereignty over sea and islands.

There was a spike in the number of visitors to Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces on the second day of Tet (February 17). Tourist arrivals to Dong Tam snake farm, Vinh Trang pagoda, Thoi Son islet, and Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village in Tien Giang province were three or four times as busy as on normal days. My Tho wharf served nearly 5,000 visitors on the day.

During the Tet holiday, tourism businesses and travel agents in Ben Tre and Tien Giang launched special programs to serve customers at stable prices.
