HCM City turns first sod on new Kim Cuong Island bridge project

VOV.VN - Construction was ceremoniously launched on a new US$22 million bridge connecting Mai Chi Tho Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City to Kim Cuong Island on Thursday, September 7, according to the Zing Online newspaper. 

Le Ngoc Hung from the city’s Department of Transport turned the first sod to build the new bridge, which is expected to open in 2019 and ease traffic congestion on Dong Van Cong Street and areas surrounding the Cat Lai Port.

He added, that he’s excited to see the new bridge get final approval and looking forward to work getting started in earnest as soon as possible.

Motorists can look forward to the traffic flowing more freely and the new bridge once completed will support strong economic growth in the area and provide a safer and faster link to Kim Cuong Island for both business and pleasure.
