New bridge linking Vietnam, China opens today

VOV.VN - A new bridge linking Vietnam and China opened today (Sept. 13) with a ceremony attended by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and Chinese Ambassador Hong Xiaoyong.

The Bac Luan Bridge No. 2 connects the city of Mong Cai in Quang Ninh Province to the city of Dongxing in Guangxi Province.

It is made of reinforced concrete, 618 meters long with 154.5 meters on the Vietnamese side, and is 27.7 meters wide. The total cost of the Vietnamese side of the bridge is US$15 million.

The bridge plays a vital role in expanding robust commercial trade and investment between Mong Cai, Vietnam and Dongxing, China, said Deputy PM Binh in a speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Deputy Prime Minister said he was confident the new bridge would contribute to broadening bilateral trade and tourism between the two countries and help lift living conditions for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
