Large cross-border drug trafficking ring raid

The Anti-drug Investigation Police Department has coordinated with the customs and border guard forces, as well as the police in Ho Chi Minh City to raid a large drug ring trafficking drugs from Laos to Vietnam, seizing 179 bricks (over 60kgs) of heroin.

They arrested seven suspects, along with 70 million VND, 450,000 LAK (Lao kips), 850 USD, 2 cars and many other exhibits.

The ring, which has been under watch over the past two months, is led by Pham Huu Hieu, 48, who is from the central province of Nghe An and resides in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hieu teamed up with transporters to bring drugs from Laos to Vietnam through central Quang Binh province for sale in Ho Chi Minh City.

On July 11, the suspects were caught conducting drug trading activities. The police searched locations where they stored the drugs and discovered the heroin.

Currently, the police are expanding the investigation on the case.
